Walking with The Snowman trail enchants Birmingham for Christmas

The stunning Walking with The Snowman sculpture trail is being held in Birmingham for the first time between 17 November until 6 January, 2022.

The enchanting family-friendly walkable trail features 12 incredible sculptures in a tribute to Raymond Briggs’ magical classic, The Snowman™. Each Snowman has been individually decorated by a professional artist, inspired by the theme of the 12 Days of Christmas.

Pick up your Christmas in Birmingham map and follow the enchanting trail of the colourful sculptures across Birmingham city centre at locations such as Bullring & Grand Central, Corporation Street, the Mailbox, Centenary Square, Victoria Square and outside House of Fraser on Corporation Street.

Walking with The Snowman is organised by Retail BID Birmingham and Wild in Art. Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity is the charity partner and each sculpture has a QR code to encourage visitors to donate to the worthwhile cause.

Walking with The Snowman™ is just one of the many attractions taking place across Birmingham city centre this Christmas – with the return of the Frankfurt Christmas Market, Christmas in Cathedral Square market, Ice Rink & Big Wheel and City Social among the many attractions. David Pardoe, Deputy Chair, Retail BID Birmingham, said: “After such a difficult time we were determined to put on a fantastic trail to entertain families visiting Birmingham this Christmas.

“The colourful Snowman sculptures are just one of several fantastic attractions taking place this year to make this festive season in Birmingham a Christmas to remember.

“We hope Snowman spotters enjoy visiting every sculpture and have a wonderful time in the city centre.”

Ben Reed, Head of Creative Development at Wild in Art, said: “We’re really excited to continue our partnership with Penguin Ventures on Walking with The Snowman.

“All of our Snowman sculpture trails have been very popular and it’s a pleasure to be working with our artists again to bring their work to a new audience. We are also thrilled to be delivering another trail in Birmingham after the success of The Big Hoot and The Big Sleuth!”

Miranda Williams, head of public fundraising for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “The Snowman is a classic Christmas storybook loved by so many children, including the sick kids at our hospital.

“The funds donated by the generous public will ensure those patients staying with us over the festive period can still experience the magic of Christmas, as well as help us to achieve our vision of providing the best possible environment, treatment and patient experience at our hospital.

“A massive thank you to Retail BID and Wild in Art for choosing to support our charity at this wonderful trail.”
