Top independent coffee shops to visit

This month we are all about our independent businesses and here are our top picks for an amazing coffee and some sweet treats:

York’s Cafe

Stephenson Street

York’s describe themselves as a new generation coffee shop, all day cafe and social space and they certainly do not disappoint.

Recognised as one of the top brunch destinations in the country by both the Sunday Times and the Observer, they are continuing to push boundaries, experimenting with new menu concepts and, since 2016, roasting their own specialty coffee in-house at Stephenson Street.

Faculty + Sixteen Bakery

Piccadilly Arcade

Set up by husband and wife duo, Faculty and Sixteen are a small, quality focused coffee and tea shop located in the historic Piccadilly Arcade, they serve brewed drinks to have in or takeaway, as well as a range of retail coffee beans and equipment for sale.

Steamhouse Bagels

Temple Row

One of the newest additions to our independent offering, Steamhouse Bagels can be found on Temple Row. They bake and sell the freshest bagels you’ll find in the city….all baked fresh at 3am! And not forgetting the amazing coffee.

Second Cup

New Street

Found on upper New Street, Second Cup offers you coffee plus lots of summer delights and lunch time sandwiches and treats. This is the perfect spot for a quiet coffee, catching up with friends or even a meeting.

Medicine Bakery

New Street

Medicine is an artisan bakery, cafe and gallery situated at the top of New Street.

They bake a unique mix of artisan breads, pastries and a selection of cakes that will make your mouth water! A series of exhibitions and markets also take place at their unique venue, offering you a little bit of culture with your coffee.
