In anticipation of Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake returning to Birmingham, The Ivy Temple Row has partnered with Birmingham Hippodrome to offer guests an experience inspired by the pioneering production.
Known for curating eye-catching installations, The Ivy Temple Row is set to transform its entrance way into a beautiful Swan Lake inspired display, whilst an exhibition of iconic Swan Legs, which have toured stages across the globe since the New Adventures production debuted in 1995, will take up residence within the restaurant. The display will be complemented by an elegant canopy of flowers and feathers and will adorn the restaurant from Monday, 28 January to Sunday, 24 February.
The brasserie will also welcome two limited edition specials to the menu, which have taken inspiration from the conflicting characteristics of the black and white swans. A sparkling blend of Beefeater gin, St Germain, Chambord, Elderflower and squid ink, the Black Swan cocktail is a dark and delicious mix, priced at £8.50. Meanwhile, the White Swan is a refreshingly delicate dessert, featuring passion fruit parfait, meringue and white chocolate, priced at £10.95.
Alongside the in-restaurant activity, The Ivy Temple Row will be supporting the Hippodrome’s Curtain Raiser Project. The brasserie’s donation will help fund the arts initiative, which offers students a platform to develop their skills and perform on stage with Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures ahead of opening night.
Liz Burton, General Manager at The Ivy Temple Row, commented: “As a brand with heritage firmly rooted in theatre, we are extremely excited to be partnering with Birmingham Hippodrome for such an iconic production and can’t wait to reveal the installation to our guests.”
“We’re equally delighted to be able to support the Curtain Raiser Project, knowing the opportunities it will offer for the next generation of dancers and choreographers, and wish all students the best of luck in developing their skills.”
Ben Wooldridge, Communications Manager at Birmingham Hippodrome, said: “Matthew Bourne’s production of Swan Lake has truly earned its iconic status and is a staple to modern theatre goers, much like The Ivy Collection restaurants. We can’t wait for the windows to come alive with costumes and decorations inspired by the production.”
“Now in its 10th year, the Curtain Raiser project gives young people the chance to dance on our main stage before a performance like Swan Lake – this unique opportunity is only made possible thanks to the generous support from partners such as The Ivy Temple Row.”
Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake will return to Birmingham Hippodrome for the first time in six years on Tuesday, 5 February to Saturday, 16 February. Tickets are priced from £21 and can be purchased at www.birminghamhippodrome.com.
