Aspiring designers in the West Midlands are being given a once in a lifetime opportunity by one of Selfridges’ newest fashion finds, LaDress, to experience the fast-paced world of fashion in a unique overseas apprenticeship.
LaDress, a brand founded in Amsterdam by ambitious Dutch businesswoman Simone van Trojen, launches in Selfridges Birmingham this Autumn, with a capsule collection of flattering, feminine dresses that are designed to resolve the desk-to-cocktails conundrum.
Founder Simone, who gave up a high-flying city career to pursue her dreams of becoming a designer, is now on the lookout for a rising star in the city to help her create the perfect ‘Birmingham Dress’ – which will later be stocked exclusively at the Bullring store.
The search will see one talented individual selected to fly to LaDress’ head office in Amsterdam, where they will learn the ropes of running a business from Simone, meet and work with the fashion team and brief LaDress’ ateliers on the dress design.
Once complete, the apprentice’s ‘Birmingham Dress’ will be stocked at Selfridges – giving city shoppers the chance to get their hands on a limited-edition style designed by home-grown, up-and-coming talent.
The chosen apprentice will also be treated to a shopping trip in Amsterdam during their stay – icing on the cake for all fashion fiends.
To be in with a chance of becoming LaDress’ Birmingham Apprentice, send a sketch of your perfect day-to-evening dress to firstname.lastname@example.org. The winner will be selected by Simone and notified by Friday 28th November.
LaDress is located in Womens on Level 3 at Selfridges. Prices start from £120. For more information visit www.selfridges.com.
