Ooty launches ‘Ooty Station’ in Selfridges Birmingham

Ooty Station at Selfridges Birmingham, promises to transport customer’s taste buds through a culinary journey, with a menu of exquisite cocktails accompanied by nibbles and signature street food all with an Indian twist.

The menu features delicacies from various regions of South India and have been developed by head chef, Manmeet Singh Bali (former Head Chef at Michelin-starred restaurants – Rasoi and Vineet Bhatia London (VBL)) alongside Sous Chef, Niru Palakonda. A creative selection of dishes and sensational aromas and flavours will provide an authentic experience of South Indian cuisine.

Head Chef Manmeet Singh-Bali said: “Since the opening of Ooty earlier this year I’ve been working hard with Niru on developing the Ooty Station food menu. We loved creating the more refined and experimental dishes at Ooty, but with the station menu we’ve been able to be more playful, with the same fidelity to traditional South Indian flavours.

We’ve taken inspiration from the street food of our childhoods growing up in India, and the comforting pub food we know here in the UK, to create a unique offering which is perfect whether you want to drop in for drinks and a few light bites, while spending the afternoon with friends and family, or starting your Friday night after work with us.”

Ooty’s menu will showcase dishes including Lime Leaf Kheema, Chettinad Chicken and Traditional Masala Dosa’s all paired perfectly with conventional Sambar and coconut chutney. Ooty Signature Starters will comprise of Paneer 66, a favourite choice for vegetarians.

Main courses will highlight curries including Kasoori Murgh – an Ooty twist on one of India’s most popular dishes, Matka Lamb – a tender lamb stew flavored with chilli & tellicherry peppers alongside Coconut Lime Prawn – lime and lemongrass scented prawns with coconut and tomato. In addition to this, Ooty will introduce the Hyderabadi Dum Biryani – an aromatic, mouthwatering, authentic Indian dish with succulent chicken in layers of basmati rice flavored with cardamom, mint and rose.

Soft drinks will embrace Indian classics, Thums Up, Limca and Mango Lassi whereby Ooty Station will also serve Indian Kingfisher beer. Guests can also expect exotic house-made cocktails infused with Indian flavours such as Sunrise Temple and Ginger & Cardamom Daiquiri as well as mocktails Mango Mule and Hillside Fizz for non-alcoholic lovers.
