So it comes as no surprise that new eateries are opening up to get a taste of the action.
We’ve rounded up the new restaurants in the city that you must add to your eating out list.
Vegans will rejoice at the opening of Fressh in City Arcade. This fast-food eatery is 100% plant-based and aims to serve up healthier, more sustainable and ethical choices with its cruelty-free menu and eco-friendly packaging.
On the menu, you can expect mac n cheese, Chicago-style hot dogs, salads and breakfast burritos without compromising on any taste or flavour, perfect for everyone, not just vegans.
Fressh is the second eatery to open in Birmingham city centre that offers an all-vegan menu as well as Natural Healthy Foods on Suffolk Queensway.
Founded by well-known food writer and YouTuber, Nisha Katona, Mowgli is all about “how Indians eat at home and on their streets”. This restaurant is far from your stereotypical curry house and is all about tiffin boxes, sticky wings, roti chip butties and Himalayan style cheese on toast.
However, if it’s curry you’re after, they serve up their real street food version of chicken tikka masala, known as mother butter chicken and Goan fish curry.
There are also vegan options available.
After their success in Nottingham, Tamatanga is bringing something new to Birmingham’s curry scene. Located on Navigation Street between Grand Central and the Mailbox, this Indian eatery promises “hearty, home-style Indian food” served in a relaxed, casual dining environment which some have described as a combination of Turtle Bay and Las Iguanas.
On the menu you can expect meat, seafood and vegan curry bowls, thalis, chaats and biryani bowls. The food is cooked fresh and is served to your table as of when it is ready.
As well as offering an extensive food menu, they also have a cocktail menu where they do happy hour every day from 12-7pm.
Award-winning Italian restaurant company, San Carlo have opened up their third restaurant in Birmingham city centre and this one is located in the iconic Selfridges building on Level 4.
The glamourous Fumo restaurant offers stunning views overlooking the Bullring centre while serving up authentic Italian small plates. They have a beautiful feature bar where you can treat yourself to a specialist cocktail or a glass of Laurent Perrier champagne.
