A new bagel and doughnut shop is set to open in Birmingham city centre this spring.
Expanding from their Leamington Spa location, The Steamhouse was established in 2016 serving up freshly baked bagels and doughnuts every day offering a variety of toppings.
The new Birmingham cafe will be located on 6-8 Temple Row opposite Great Western Arcade.
Business owner Ashley Baker along with his partner, Kayleigh O’Mahony started out selling coffees from the back of their VW camper van before selling their camper van to buy their first shop in Leamington Spa.
The name of the shop originates from how the bagels are cooked.
“The name Steamhouse came from Kayleigh’s sister after we spent an afternoon in the kitchen working out how to steam them.
“We steam them for a minute on each side which gives them a chewy texture and then finish them off in the oven fro 12 minutes so making them all fresh is a quick turnaround.” says Ashley.
The menu will consist of their classic range such as The New York Giant – salt beef with pickles and American mustard and The Italian – Mortadella ham, salami, mozzarella, tomato, pesto mayo and leaves, house specials and vegetarian bagels including The Greek – grilled halloumi, hummus, avocado, honey mustard dressing and leaves.
There will also be breakfast options available such as The Easy Going – toasted with homemade jams or spreads or The Workman – sausage, bacon and free range scrambled eggs.
Doughnuts are also made with a creative twist – they can include Belgian white chocolate with raspberry compote and nutella or added with ice cream for a doughnut sundae.
The shop will seat 22 people and is set to open the third week in March.
