A new and exciting African themed restaurant, Nakira Bar and Grill (formerly Lobster Peninsula) is set to open on Tuesday 1st August 2017, under new management.
The African themed restaurant will have a fun, friendly and modern vibe with a nod to traditional Africal furnishings featuring African Zulu shields and masks as well as African Savannah themed animal ornamentation.
Nakira Bar and Grill is fully kitted out with a braai – a large South African barbecue grill, and will serve a range of African cuisine, offering a selection of African game meats and more. On the menu, diners can expect to find interesting and healthy meats such as springbok steak and ostrich rump as well as Nakira Braai and Grilled Boerewors from the braai, with traditional African sides of chakalaka, jollof rice and more. Diners can also get their teeth into ostrich, alpaca and crocodile burgers!
The cocktail bar is also set to be an enticing feature. Run by Bar Manager, Paulius Pabrinkis, who has been trained by the best in the country, guests can enjoy what promises to be the main attraction to the bar – Nakira Martinis (a Pornstar Martini with a Nakira twist), as well as another special house cocktail, the Amarula Martini, made with the popular South African liqueur, Amarula.
Originally from Zimbabwe, Dexter Lasswell, who runs the frequented African themed club above Nakira Bar & Grill on Friday and Saturday evenings, spotted an opportunity for an African themed dining experience and bought the former Lobster Peninsula restaurant.
“I saw a gap in the market for an African themed game and grill restaurant, and thought it was too good an opportunity to miss. The venue is stunning and I wanted to turn it into a place where people can enjoy a relaxed African dining experience in elegant surroundings but without the high prices. We have a great team behind Nakira Bar & Grill including our highly trained Bar Manager, Paulius Pabrinkis, and Restaurant Manager, Nuno Pedro, who previously worked at Harvey Nichols Restaurant and Bar. I have high hopes for Nakira and our team is very excited to launch!” said Dexter Lasswell, Owner at Nakira Bar and Grill.
Nakira Bar & Grill, which has already attracted excitement on social media with the announcement, will open for business on Tuesday 1 August for a soft launch, and there will later be a VIP launch party.
There will be a chance for the public to win a select number of tickets to this VIP launch via social media.
