It’s back to the ‘80s this Spring as acid wash, distressed denim and tie-dye return to the high street – and nowhere has these trends covered better than Selfridges Birmingham.
From high-rise boyfriend acid-wash denim shorts to the perfect casual, dressed-up jean, the premium department store has a huge selection of denim to satisfy every taste.
J Brand’s cropped mid-rise skinny jeans (£265) epitomise the SS19 style: the Californian brand has taken its popular 835 Capri jeans and updated them in a summery faded wash. The skinny silhouette and fit remains the same, making them ideal to pair with chunky trainers or boots.
Paige’s Hoxton Ankle jeans (£290) have also been upgraded for the season, with pale wash and frayed hem. The signature stretch denim sculpts and supports, while the high-rise waist provides the perfect silhouette.
Prefer a darker jean? Frame’s Le High faded skinny jeans (£195) capture the “dressed-up casual” look, with retro high-rise waist with a skinny leg that crops just above the ankle.
For those warmer days, shorts are the mainstay for this season. Polo Ralph Lauren will keep you cool, with its acid wash, high-rise boyfriend shorts (£100), while classic Levi 501 cut-offs (£50) stands the test of time.
J Brand’s Gracie shorts (£225) epitomise dreamy vintage, with a faded and frayed look, enhanced with a little stretch, and Paige’s Sarah faded ripped stretch denim shorts (£200) with high waist are cut to flattering mid-thigh and are a snug fit.
Head into festival mode by teaming this season’s denim with fabulous tie-dye. Polo Ralph Lauren’s oversized tie-dye t-shirt (£75) adds more than a splash of colour, as does CK Jeans’ festival capsule wardrobe, featuring tie-dye tees, dresses and sweatshirts.
Selfridges Birmingham is also launching a refreshed swimwear section, thanks to customer demand. Located on level 3, it features some of the hottest swimwear collections, including Tommy Hilfiger, Champion, Calvin Klein, Seafolly, Heidi Klum and Jets.
The department store is also exclusive stockist of Hunza G’s fabulous seersucker one-piece and bikinis. The Angela bikini (£140) is a textured seersucker set with flattering V-neck top and knotted satin tie at the centre, plus low-rise bottoms with high legs. The Trina two-piece (£140) is a simple, yet stylish bikini, gathered at the bust with braided straps, while high-cut legs flatter and accentuate the figure. For those who prefer a one-piece, the Maria square-neck swimsuit (£130) is a classic. Just add a hat, sunglasses and cocktail.
Sam Watts, general manager of Selfridges Birmingham, said: “We’re more than ready for Spring and summer and what could be better to welcome these warmer days than with festival-ready tie-dye tees, and acid-wash and distressed denim? We’re also excited to relaunch a dedicated swimwear department in store, which we believe is the best place to source the best beach and pool pieces.”
