Bullring & Grand Central brings back Festival of Light

The popular light exhibition is back this January bigger and better as the centre marks Chinese New Year.

 

The Festival of Lightis back this month as Bullring & Grand Central play host to the light exhibition between Friday 24thJanuary until Sunday 2ndFebruary.

The free event will transform the centre’s outdoor spaces including Rotunda Square, St Martin’s Walk and St Martin’s Square into a dazzling light space containing five spectacular installations.

 

Birds Fly Around With You– Rotunda Square

An interactive light sculpture, which will enchant young and old. Enter the circle to activate the magical machine and watch the birds illuminate around you.

 

Neon Angel Wings– Rotunda Square

Created by renowned neon light artist, Carla O’Brien, this installation has been incredibly popular around the world providing a must-have photograph opportunity.

 

Pulse– St Martin’s Walk

Walk through the series of loop structures as you journey towards St Martin’s Church for a fully immersive experience complete with light and sound.

 

With Love– St Martin’s Balcony

Watch this bright red inflatable heart beat in line with the city. This heart takes the pulse of its environment by sensing the light, the temperature and the atmospheric pressure, and translates it into flashing lights and heartbeat sounds.

 

Talk to the Skies– St Martin’s Square

This interactive, collaborate light and sound installation will be a must-visit during the exhibition. See your voice converted into light and sound pulses that rocket across the ground and up into space.

 

Danielle Bozward, Marketing Manager at Bullring & Grand Central, commented: “Following the success of last year’s event we’re excited to bring back Festival of Light with these five new installations. What better way to light up a dark January evening than a light festival?!”

 

Festival of Light will also form part of the centre’s celebrations to mark Chinese New Year with events taking place in-centre on Saturday 25thJanuary. Shoppers can follow the much loved lion and dragon procession through the centre and watch pop-up performances including traditional fan and umbrella dances. There will also be a special Wish Tree in Grand Central for shoppers and travellers to add their new year wishes to.
