Taste of the Mailbox food festival returns next month
Mailbox’s much-anticipated food festival, Taste of the Mailbox, is making a return on 3rd-5th August.
Foodies will be able to enjoy exclusive events, cookery masterclasses, live demos, as well as complimentary food and drink sampling across the weekend.

Taste of the Mailbox Food Tour – Friday 3rd August, 7pm or 8pm
Fancy dining at the Mailbox but can’t decide which of our restaurants to choose from? Now you can experience a Taste of the Mailbox with our exclusive Food Tour on the evening of Friday 3rd August.
For just £50 per person, you’ll enjoy a private table in each restaurant, with the chef’s signature dish from Harvey Nichols, Tom’s Kitchen and Malmaison, accompanied by a matching wine or cocktail.
Experts from each of the three restaurants will be on hand to talk you through their chosen dish and answer any questions you might have.

Whisky tasting masterclass with Birmingham Whisky Club at Harvey Nichols – Friday 3rd August, 7pm
Join Amy Seton, owner of Birmingham Whisky Club, for an intimate tasting experience at Harvey Nichols, where a select group of just 16 will be able to learn all about their favourite flavours, ages and selections of the popular liquor.
Staged within the intimate private dining room at Harvey Nichols, guests will learn how to properly nose and taste the flavours of six whiskies from around the globe.

Seafood feast and masterclass with Lap-fai Lee (aka the Foodist) – Saturday 4th August, 11am-1pm
Culinary cult hero, Lap-fai Lee, will host an Asian Seafood Feast and Masterclass at Kitchen Gallery’s luxurious showroom. Under the trusted supervision of Lap, guests will try their hand at a number of Asian-inspired dishes including scallops, red curry prawns and sushi, before taking a seat in Kitchen Gallery’s sleek dining room and tucking into their seafood banquet.
Tickets are extremely limited and cost just £35 (excluding VAT and booking fee) so book early to avoid disappointment!
Thai feast and masterclass with Lap-fai Lee (aka the Foodist) – Sunday 5th August, 11am-1pm
Lap-fai lee will return to Kitchen Gallery to host an exclusive Thai cookery masterclass for eight aspiring foodies. In this hands-on session, guests will learn how to create a variety of Thai-inspired courses including stuffed chicken wings, coconut rice and green curry of king prawns, before taking a seat in the luxury dining room to relax and enjoy their delicious creation.
Again, tickets are limited and cost £35 (plus fees).
Masterchef finalist Louisa Ellis takes over Harvey Nichols for one night only – Sunday 5th August, 6:30pm onwards
Harvey Nichols Birmingham is teaming up with much-lauded chef Louisa Ellis for a one night only restaurant takeover. The MasterChef: The Professionals finalist will bring her innovative style to the luxury store’s Brasserie on Sunday 5th August as part of the Taste of the Mailbox celebrations.
The menu for the evening is called ‘Hadaka’, a Japanese word which means ‘naked’ or ‘bare’. Mixing exciting flavours from the Far East with the finest British ingredients, Louisa will be demonstrating how every element of each dish should be equally important with nothing to hide.
To ensure guests on the evening enjoy Louisa’s food at its best, places will be strictly limited to just 50 diners over five sittings, with tables available from 6.30pm. The five-course menu is priced at £75 or £110 to include hand-selected Sake and Japanese drinks pairing and there is a vegetarian selection available. Eight lucky diners can also enjoy the Chef’s Table experience with Louisa for a £25 supplement.
