Six Eight Kafé wins best café in Birmingham
6/8 Temple Row, Central Birmingham: Independent coffee shop Six Eight Kafé beat all the cafés in Birmingham to be crowned the public’s favourite.
The artisan coffee shop already has become a leader of the independent coffee scene in the Midlands by winning awards at national level, but has strengthened it’s position by winning another local award, Birmingham Mail’s Brummies Choice Awards.
“We were so excited to be nominated by our customers” said owner Devinder Dhallu, “that all our staff got really excited by being appreciated by our customers. When we saw the competition we didn’t really think we had a chance, but being voted “Number One” by the general public was so humbling and we genuinely honoured about what the public thought of us.
“As most of customers know, our Temple Row branch is really small. We have all the large chains within a 100 metres of our shop, so competition is really fierce. We have to continuously keep improving ourselves.”
Six Eight Kafé has come to national prominence as their baristas have won the Northern Ireland Barista Championships (2012), Best Newcomer in the UK and reached the semi-finals of the United Kingdom Barista Championships in 2012 and 2014.
