FRAME_ Launches in Birmingham

Landmark arts project, FRAME_  has launched an exhibition of unique or small edition artworks presented in venues across the city – each work being exhibited in a white frame.

Involving 42 local and international artists and 30 venues, the project will run for 3 months (until 17 February).  Curated by Elly Clarke / Clarke Gallery, the project aims to make buying art less daunting by placing splendid art in places you already go to.  With venues ranging from hotels to cathedrals and from high street stores to cafes, every piece of work is for sale with a maximum price of £750.  Thanks to the Arts Council’s Own Art scheme, each piece can be purchased via mac birmingham with an interest free loan.

Some of the venues include, COS in Bullring (seen above), Urban Outfitters on Corporation Street, Six Eight Kafe on Temple Row and Loki Wine in Great Western Arcade:

By exhibiting the work in 30 venues across the city, the project creates a walking tour of the various districts of central Birmingham including the Retail area. Guided walking tours will depart from Yorks Bakery Cafe, 1 Newhall Street, Birmingham B3 3NH. For a full list of venues click HERE.

The project is funded by Arts Council West Midlands and supported by mac birmingham and Own Art.
